Ruth Frenk was born in the Netherlands and studied at the Universities of Amsterdam and Geneva. She then moved to New York and graduated from the Manhattan School of Music. After several years as a concert singer (mezzo-soprano) in the USA, Canada and Israel she returned to Europe and continued her studies with KS. Erika Köth.
She has lived in Konstanz since 1974. She performed concerts in Germany, Switzerland, Italy and the Netherlands. She specialized years ago in songs of the Jewish people and vocal music from Theresienstadt. In 1990 she released the CD Jewish Songs and 1991 "Der letzte Schmetterling" - Lieder from Theresienstadt.
She is internationally active as a vocal pedagogue. In 2010 she gave masterclasses and lectures in Jerusalem, Salzburg and Riga/Latvia. She was a member of the Board of the Federal Association of German Vocal Teachers from 2006 to 2013 and has been the chairwoman of the German-Israeli Society of Lake Constance Region since 1992 and also a board member of the Society for Christian-Jewish Cooperation Konstanz e.V.
